Oct. 1, 2004 to Jan. 1, 2016:
Co-founder and managing partner: The Surveillance Intelligence Group (SIG). Duties include planning and executing covert surveillance projects and training surveillance agents. Conduct covert surveillance in workers comp, personal injury and a wide variety of insurance fraud cases.

Sept: 2000 to July 2005:
Qualified capital case investigator, California State Office of the Public Defender, Capital Case Division. Duties included all investigative phases of appeal and habeas corpus cases. Death penalty case investigations.

April 1981 to June 1998:
Investigative/crime reporter, political writer and columnist. As a reporter, I received six major awards for investigative reporting and political writing. While at the Fresno Bee, a McClatchy Newspaper, I was the paper’s lead investigator on many of its major in-depth investigative reports. I also wrote a column for the religion pages called “Visions and Values.” Duties included background investigations on individuals, businesses, politicians; and political and governmental agencies — including financial investigations. Duties also included extensive database and Internet research as well as subject/witness locator work. While at the Bee I was a two-time recipient of the Grunner Award (best regional reporting) for work performed at the Hanford Sentinel and at the Fresno Bee. I was also a two time recipient of The Best of Bee Award (the paper’s top reporting award). When I left the paper in 1998, I was the only reporter in the paper’s history to have received both awards twice. Prior to coming to McClatchy in 1987, I was a reporter for Script Leagues Newspapers where I received two state-wide awards for investigative and political reporting. Before that I worked for the Lindsay Gazette where I did reporting, editing, page layout, photography and dark room duties.

  • I have earned 24 credits toward a Certified Fraud Specialist investigator rating.
